At Seniors Helping Seniors® East Tampa, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner(s) Mike Morrow, Linda Morrow firmly believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Tampa, Riverview, Brandon, and surrounding areas.

About Us Mike and Linda started dating when they were freshman in college and married after graduation.  Mike and Linda have been married for 35 years. Mike was born at Fort Lewis, Washington and Linda was born Mansfield Center, CT.  Mike graduated from Francis Marion College in Florence SC with a BA in Business Administration.  Linda attended Francis Marion and Florence Regional Technical College and has a degree in Secretarial Science.  Mike and Linda have two children, Christopher and Miranda.  Christopher is a graduate of The Citadel and is a Physician Assistance in the Army. Christopher and his wife Tara have three children.  Miranda is a graduate of University of Central Florida and is a speech pathologist and resides in Tampa with her husband Derick, they have one child.

What inspired you to start a Seniors Helping Seniors center?  Mike’s mother succumbed to bladder cancer and in her final days as the cancer spread to the brain he witnessed how the family pulled together to make sure mom was comfortable and her needs were provided for by wonderful family members.    My father did a great job of taking care of my mother but we saw that being a care giver was taking a toll on his health as well. Mike and Linda as well as Mike’s two brothers and their wives, pulled together to provide around the clock care.  We were always a very close family and taking care of mom brought us a greater understanding of what it truly means to be a family.  When someone is in need of compassion, understanding or just needs to have a friend, I want to make sure that we do all we can to meet that need just as you would expect from your family.

How do you believe Seniors Helping Seniors is different from the other area services? Senior Helping Seniors mission is to not only to provide care to those seniors in need, but also to connect those seniors who have burning compassion for caring for others to be able to meet there goals as well.

What services will you be providing?  Companionship, Meal preparation, Light housekeeping, Shopping, Doctor visits, Transportation, Social Outings, Yard Work, House Maintenance and Small Repairs, overnight stays (24-hour care), long distance check-ins, Family Refief, Alzheimer / Dementia Support and more.

Community Involvement Mike has served on his church council as Treasurer, Vice President and church school board.   When I worked for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, I worked closely with our members and volunteers to conduct various benevolent events, be it a fundraiser to help a needy family or provide meals and basic supplies to a retirement mobile home park that was devastated by a hurricane. Mike was also a little league baseball coach.

Personal Care Giving Experience Mike’s first experience of being a care giver was in college where he cared for another student who was quadriplegia.  I took Harry to various classes, took notes and assisted him with eating his lunch.  We had many laughs and I gained much compassion for those who need help with everyday living that most of us take for granted.   I have seen firsthand with my parents how failing health can cause stress on loved ones as one spouse physically or mentally cannot always provide constant care for the other.
